How you can connect to Wi-FI at railway stations

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) not only provides the facility of train ticket bookings, cancellations, refunds, tour bookings, flight bookings, but the exclusive e-ticketing and catering partner of the Railways also facilitates free Wi-Fi services to all the passengers travelling on the Indian Railways network. Indian Railways had decided to provide Wi-Fi broadband facility to Railway passengers at major railway stations in a move to contribute towards the fulfilment of PM’s Digital India initiative.

RailTel has been created for the purpose of providing Wi-Fi at railway stations. RailTel has partnered with Google for setting up a fast Wi-Fi network, initially covering 400 stations for providing fast Wi-Fi to millions of passengers every day. Wi-Fi services to passengers are being provided under ‘Railwire’, the retail Broadband distribution model of RailTel, IRCTC said. Railwire Wi-Fi is available to all users who have a working mobile connection on a smartphone.


According to the IRCTC, RailTel Wi-Fi services, once implemented fully, shall be one of the largest public Wi-Fi projects in the world. IRCTC Wi-Fi service provides high-speed connectivity for viewing uninterrupted high definition video, download of movies, songs, games to the passengers at the railway station.
